The Asperger’s Services Department at West Bergen Mental Healthcare will present a series of monthly workshops for parents of children on the spectrum. The support group will have a two-part focus. First, to explore the challenges of parenting individuals with Asperger’s and related disorders and second, to allow participants to share and process their own experiences within their families.

The Forum will be run in two sections: one for parents of children 12 and under and one for parents of children age 13 and older.

All workshops are on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 PM at West Bergen Counseling Group, 615 Franklin Turnpike, 2nd Floor, Ridgewood, NJ.

The 12 and under group will meet on January 22, February 5, March 19, April 16, May 7, June 4, July 16, August 6, September 17, October 1 and November 5.

The group for 13 and older will meet on January 29, February 19, March 26, April 30, May 14, June 11, July 23, August 13, September 24, October 8 and November 12. The cost is $20 per session for both parents. We strongly urge both parents to attend these workshops together.

Space is limited and pre-registration is required for each session. Groups are facilitated by Janine Standish, LPC, Clinical Supervisor, as well as Caitlyn Burns and Jessica Newsome, Marriage and Family Therapy Interns.
