Tax Deadline Extension – Last week, the IRS announced the extension of the federal tax filing and payment deadline from April 15th to May 17th. On Friday, the Governor and State Treasurer announced that NJ would mirror the IRS decision. Both federal and state extensions only apply to individual tax returns/payments that are due April 15th. Quarterly estimated payments due or any business taxes are not included. The state CPA Society has been working with the American Institute of CPAs to urge members of Congress to call on the IRS to change this. The State Chamber reached out to all of our contacts in the congressional delegation as well to encourage the IRS to give tax payment and filing relief to all taxpayers and move the extension to June 15th. We will update you when we know more.

Zero-emission Incentive Program (ZIP) – Last week, the NJ EDA announced that applications for the program will open on Tuesday, April 6th. The $15 million pilot program will fund 100 to 300 vouchers ranging in value from $25,000 to $100,000 for businesses and institutional organizations in the greater Newark and Camden areas for the purchase of new, zero emission medium and heavy-duty vehicles (MHDVs). The EDA is offering webinars tomorrow, Tuesday, March 23rd, to help people prepare to apply for the program. For more information on the program and the webinar, click here.

PPE Extension – The NJ EDA announced today that they are extending the deadline for the PPE Access Program to May 28th. New Jersey businesses with 100 or fewer full-time equivalent employees (FTEs) will be able to receive discounts of nearly 70 percent off purchases of personal protective equipment (PPE) through the NJ Small and Micro Business PPE Access Program. For more information, click here.

Shuttered Venue Operators (SVO) Grant – The SBA will be doing an informational webinar to review the application process on March 30th and it will begin accepting applications on April 8th. For more information, click here.

Community Project Funding – As mentioned last week, congressional members will be able to apply for up to 10 community projects in their districts, which presents a great opportunity for local/regional chambers to advocate for projects in their respective areas. We received updated information from the US Chamber, which can be viewed here. If you would like to engage your congressional representative, the US Chamber has also provided a template message that you can use.

As always, feel free to reach out with any questions.
