The Ridgewood Art Institute, popularly known as “the Barn”, recently hosted its 58th Annual Young People's Scholarship Exhibition at the Galleries at the corner of East Glen and Oak Avenues in Ridgewood The Exhibition showcases the works of young Member artists and interested Non-Members. This year, more than 110 works were exhibited in a variety of media, demonstrating the breadth and depth of local aspiring young artists. At the Reception held at the Barn on Sunday, June 4, 2017, scholarships and awards were presented to those who showed special skill and talent in their chosen fields.

The Members’ Scholarship is presented annually to the High School Seniors whose work most successfully embodies the Institute’s aesthetic of skilled technique and inspired vision, and who will be pursuing college studies in the Fine Arts. This year, Nick Metz, of Hillsdale and Pascack Valley High School, was awarded a $2,500 scholarship to assist with his intended courses in Painting, Museum Studies, Art History and Business & Entrepreneurship at the prestigious Savannah College of Art & Design this fall.
