Event Description

Ridgewood – The vigorous elements of fire and rain will fill the air as the New Jersey Choral Society presents its Pops Spectacular “Fire and Rain – Forces of Nature,” featuring music of iconic artists. Performances will be held on Friday, March 6 at 7:30 pm and Saturday, March 7 at 3:00 pm at the West Side Presbyterian Church, 6 South Monroe St., Ridgewood.

Under the dynamic direction of interim Artistic Director and Conductor, Dr. Lauren Fowler-Calisto, NJCS will perform popular hits inspired by the elements of fire and rain featuring music by Prince, James Taylor, Adele, Katy Perry, Toto, Earth, Wind and Fire and many other pop icons. The NJCS Festival Youth Chorus, under the direction of Noelle Dachis, will join NJCS on several selections and numerous soloists and small groups will be featured. Pianist and artist-in-residence Linda Sweetman-Waters will accompany NJCS along with a musical trio.

The uplifting and invigorating program features James Taylor’s popular Fire and Rain, the Grammy Award-winning Purple Rain by Prince, Adele’s Set Fire to the Rain, the haunting Here Comes the Rain Again by the Eurythmics, Eternal Flame by the Bangles, the upbeat It’s Raining Men by The Weather Girls and a medley of songs by Earth, Wind and Fire. Some contemporary pieces by John Legend, Katy Perry, Alicia Keys and Phillip Phillips will also be included.
