Letter to the Editor: Happy Haleydays

Dear Joan and Jack,

I just wanted to say thank you once again for helping me organize an event for Haley Tyrrell during this year’s annual tree lighting festivities. Joan, you found the perfect location for us to host the event. Jack, the staff at your salon was very helpful and supportive.

Our Happy Haleydays event in front of Panico Salon was a huge success. It truly was a community effort. We raised over $1500 for Haley and her family. We far exceeded our expectations. For my family and neighbors it was a great way for us to support our dear friend Haley during these very difficult times. Also, the Orchard Home and School Association hosted a bake sale in front of Hillman Electric and made a very generous donation to Haley’s fund.

Haley’s surgery this past Friday was successful; there is no evidence of the disease. Haley had her leg amputated and donated it to cancer research. Haley was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, an aggressive form of bone cancer in September. Please keep Haley in your thoughts and prayers.

It was a pleasure to work with both of you. I would also like to thank the following families for assisting me at the event: the Coakleys, Jordans, Siscos, and McSherrys. We will never forget Downtown for the Holidays 2009!

Happy Holidays and many thanks.
Theresa Callaghan
